use up your labels- quick layering tutorial

Hey! It's Kasia here today and I'd like to share with you some tips and ideas on creating a fun, layered look on your layouts. I will show you in few steps how I created a page which you can see above and we will focus on making the most of your gorgeous tags!

You might remember the post from last month where I told you that when I create layered pages I often cut pieces of labels and keep them to use in later projects. I store them in a small container and they come really handy when I make layouts like the one I'm showing today!

I usually start with picking a color scheme, this time I wanted to use colors taken from Love Note line. It often makes sense to invest in few sets of tags from this same line, they work perfectly together and you can create a page with a little amount of scrapbooking papers.

Keeping my color scheme in mind I start picking different labels and tags and play with layering them together. I like using neutrals and adding a pop of color which helps to lead the eye around the page.

At this point I very often use my tags and labels ''leftovers'' from other projects, they are perfect to create small clusters on the layout.

When I'm happy with the composition of my page I start adhering the pieces together. I stick them underneath bigger piece of paper, not to my base. I use a little amount of glue which sometimes I substitute with 3d tape to create more dimensional look.

I have all my labels sticked to the piece of paper, this same way I created a smaller cluster to embellish the corner. Now I can adhere it on my page, add the photograph and other elements like additional layers of paper, gesso, some brads, paint splatters and of course journaling and title. Here are some close ups of finished page:

I hope I inspired you a bit to save small pieces of tags and labels and to use them in projects in creative way. Following these simple steps you can make your tags fit into even more layouts and cards! Have fun and share results of your experiments with us!

I love how you showed ways to use bits and pieces of leftover tags and small pieces of paper... I always have such a hard time throwing away even the smallest scraps and have so many, it is great to see some creative ways to use them! I also really liked that you used your own handwriting to journal. I do this too and I get so hung up on the imperfections in my handwriting, but seeing someone else do it and how great it looks ( even though it isn't perfect) makes me happy!! This is great!
