Summer Days: Making Your Layout Interactive - Tutorial

Hi everyone!!  Stephanie here today to show you how to add a flip up card for hidden journaling or extra photos on your layout.  I love making my layouts interactive and making a flip card couldn't be easier.  For the layout below, I used the flip up card to add some extra journaling about our fun days at the pool.

Start by gathering your supplies.
You will need a photo, your paper, paper trimmer and a bone folder.  Here I have some white card stock and piece of vellum.  Measure your photo and decide how wide you want your flip up card to be.  Double the length of the photo.  This is how large your extra piece of paper should be (ex. if you have a 4x4 photo, your flip up card should be 4x8).  Cut your paper.

Using your bone folder, score your paper in the middle.  I scored mine at the 4 inch mark.

I like to type up my journaling, so I typed mine prior to adhering my photo onto the flip up card.  I also wanted to add a little detail on the inside of the card, so I stitched these tags into place prior to attaching to my layout.

Now you can attach your photo to your flip up card and then add to your project.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to use vellum or the white card stock in the beginning, but I ended up using the vellum because I loved how it looked kind of transparent against my background.

Here is my finished layout...

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  I hope you will give this fun little tutorial a try!!

Very clever Stephanie.

Cute idea. But I have a question. When you put the page in an album, do you put a page protector on it and then cut it where your flip page is? Or do you skip the protector all together?

The layout is so pretty :) And I love the idea of hiding some additional journalling under the photo :) Makes the page even more special.
