Sketch Friday with Suz| Holiday Card and Decor

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I can't believe it's the last day of October already! While I am sad to see the leaves nearly completely fallen off of the trees, I am happy to know that means the holiday season is upon us! I took the fallen leaves as a clue to get a jump start on my holiday creating and today I am sharing a sketch design that can be translated into several different types of holiday crafting; card making, traditional layouts, or even home decor!

First up, the sketch:

I created this sketch with the intent to create some Christmas cards with it (and I still plan to do just that) however, I opted instead to mix it up and make a home decor item instead.

First, I misted a bunch of Cloud 9 wood veneer sequins a holiday green and adhered to some card stock along with a few other colors for pops of color (and to mimic ornaments on the tree). Then I glued the sequins down to some scrap card stock (in retrospect I wish I would've used a green card stock-ah well...)

Then I trimmed away the excess card stock from around the perimeter of the tree. I adhered the tree to the background paper (which I think resembles some pretty mod wallpaper!) and applied gold star rubons as well as the "twinkle" sentiment to the bottom of my design. Next up, the fun candy striped paper that makes for some creative "carpet." For the tree topper star I applied a larger gold star rub on to some card stock, trimmed excess card stock and then added a pop dot for dimension.

Here a full close up to see a bit more of the details as a whole:

Shop Items Used: Cloud 9 Wood Veneer Sequins, Good Tidings "Twinkle" patterned paper, Good Tidings gold rub on transfers, Good Tidings "Frost" (B side) , School House "Teacher's Lounge" patterned paper (B side)

I can't wait to see your take on this sketch! Please share with the hashtag #suzchictagssketch  on Instagram and tag me @SuzMannecke! You can also share on @chictags Facebook wall or simply link me up here in the comment section below! ;)
